Profile

A tall lad of lanky build, Anup Dave is a left arm spinner in the classical mould. With a nice easy run up to the wicket, Dave uses his wrist well to vary the amount of turn he gets. Unafraid to give the ball air, Dave definitely likes to be positive. When required to, he can be called upon to tie one end down with accurate line and length bowling. A good fielder inside the circle, Dave has shown the ability to throw down the stumps with a reliable level of accuracy. The recently concluded Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka brought his abilities to the fore as he captured 13 wickets at less than 14 apiece. His best returns were 4 for 15, showing that he could pick enough wickets in a ten over spell to change the course of the game. His spell of 7-3-7-3 in a subsequent match added credibility to the claims he had staked earlier. Dave plays for Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy. He was picked to play in the Challenger Trophy recently, but did not have enough of a run to make his presence felt. (Anand Vasu)
