Scorecard
It was a poor day for Netherlands in the field and with the bat, with defeat looming at the end of the third day at Deventer. The Scotland lower order frustrated Netherlands to extend their first innings lead to 181 before the bowlers strengthened their position. Netherlands failed to stage a comeback with the bat and lost eight wickets, still trailing by 13 runs.
Scotland's overnight pair of Matthew Parker and Majid Haq resumed on 273 for 7 and went on to add 65 for the eighth wicket. Pieter Seelaar got the breakthrough with the wicket of Haq, followed by Gordon Drummond soon after, but Netherlands struggled to finish off the innings. Parker and Gordon Goudie added 61 for the tenth wicket, with Goudie contributing 44. Seelaar wrapped up the innings when he had Parker caught for 65, and finished with 3 for 67.
Netherlands, in their second innings, struggled to put together solid partnerships to first erase the deficit and then set a target. Eric Szwarczynski and Peter Borren made fifties but the rest failed to get on top of the Scotland attack, and the three run-outs didn't help their cause. Richie Berrington, the seamer, took three wickets while Parker and Drummond took one apiece. Borren remained unbeaten on 52 with the tail for company. The best Netherlands can do is to avoid an innings defeat.
