HKCA introduces changes to Constitution affecting its voting and structure

The Hong Kong Cricket Association has passed changes to its Constitution that will affect the composition of the HKCA Executive Committee and changes the way voting will be conducted at meetings.

The Hong Kong Cricket Association has passed changes to its Constitution that will affect the composition of the HKCA Executive Committee and changes the way voting will be conducted at meetings. The changes were passed unanimously at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held at the Hong Kong Cricket Club on Friday, 16th July 2010.
The reasons for these changes were circulated to members in June 2010 (see HKCA announces proposals to change HKCA Executive structure and introduce team-based voting to HKCA Constitution).
The revision of the HKCA's Constitution sees the voting system change from one where members cast their votes individually to a system whereby the teams represented in the senior leagues (i.e. the Saturday, Sunday and Women's Leagues) will each cast a single vote.
Changes to the structure of the HKCA Executive Committee were also approved at the EGM. In recognition of their Club's growth and development, representatives from the Little Sai Wan Cricket Club and the Pakistan Association will join the Executive Committee as full members (these Clubs were previously represented by the Independent Cricket Clubs delegate). The remaining independent clubs will still have representation on the Executive Committee, as will the umpires and scorers because of their particular impact and role in the game.
In addition to providing a fairer system of voting, it is expected that the changes will make the HKCA more efficient and ensure that at all times it is the wishes of the HKCA members, through the teams in which they participate, that will guide and determine policy formulation.
