Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Hong Kong began tightly with opening bowlers Connie Wong and Godiva Li conceding only 6 runs after 4 overs. Hong Kong continued to maintain this pressure and at the halfway mark, U.A.E had only 28 runs. The Hong Kong team fielded very well in the sweltering Malaysian heat with lots of tight fielding and pressure on the U.A.E batters. The first wicket fell in the 4th over with a run out to point fielder Yasmin Daswani who fielded very well in the inner circle for the entire 20 overs. The U.A.E team never gained momentum and the final 10 overs conceded only 25 runs for 8 wickets.
It was a pleasing bowling performance from the Hong Kong team who looked a capable focussed unit in the field. For Hong Kong, Connie Wong finished with 4-3-1, Chan Sau Ha 4-11-1, Betty Chan 3-7-1 and player of the match Godiva Li who finished with 3 wickets for 6 runs from 4 overs.
In reply Hong Kong got off to a very positive start and put in a convincing performance in knocking off the runs in the 7th over for the lose of only 1 wicket. Openers Neisha Pratt and Keenu Gill ran positively between the wickets and put the loose ball away. Keenu Gill finished 16 not out with Chan Sau Ha 9 not out. Opener Neisha Pratt earlier made 19.
