China Cricket International Limited (CCIL), the body appointed by the HKCA to deal with all Sixes commercial and operational matters, announces the appointment of Mr. Mark Burns as full-time Tournament Director effective March 2008. This appointment has been approved by the HKCA Executive Committee and is effective immediately for a period of 12 months.
Subsequent to the huge success of recent Hong Kong Sixes, especially in 2007, both CCIL and the HKCA Executive have acknowledged that the event has grown into a multi-million dollar commercial concern requiring full-time, dedicated attention in order to maximise the benefits of sponsorship, commercial rights, marketing and income for the HKCA. The urgent creation of a full-time position was agreed to take up immediate and essential organizational arrangements for this year's event in addition to its operational management. To these ends, a new and separate CCIL office has been opened to deal exclusively with the Sixes and to relieve space congestion in the existing HKCA office. The appointment of Mark Burns is temporary pending a full recruitment exercise for a permanent Chief Executive post next year.
The CCIL Board of Directors and the HKCA Executive Committee wish to record their sincere thanks and appreciation for the tremendous work done by the outgoing Tournament Director, Mr. Glyn Davies without whose efforts, the event could not have developed to such a successful level and to the extent that a full-time position is required.

Chairman, HKCA
