Hong Kong Training squad named for ACC Twenty20 & Hong Kong Sixes tournaments

The Hong Kong Selectors have announced the Hong Kong Training Squad from which the teams for the upcoming ACC Twenty20 Tournament in Kuwait from Oct 27th to Nov 3rd 2007 and Cathay Pacific / Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to be held at Kowloon Cricket Club on Oct 27th and 28th 2007 will be selected.

Tabarak Dar has been appointed as the Captain for the ACC Twenty20 Tournament. "Tabarak has lead the Little Sai Wan Team successfully for the last few years and the selection committee felt he would be the ideal candidate as Captain for this particular format of the game. The Twenty20 squad will be a combination of young as well as experienced cricketers. " said Krish Kumar, Hong Kong Chairman of Selectors

Courtney Kruger, Hong Kong U19 captain, has been named as vice-captain.

"There are a couple of players who are on the verge of qualifying for Hong Kong National team like Mark Fuzes and Moner Ahmed. They could form the nucleus of a Strong Hong Kong Sixes Team for local fans to support and the team is expected to repeat the good performance of last year." added Krish Kumar.

The final 14 plus reserves for the ACC Twenty20 and the Final 7 for the Hong Kong Sixes will be announced by early October.

The Hong Kong Cricket Association are in the process of appointing a National Coach for Hong Kong National Team
