Ball dominated bat in the opening round of the 2005-06 Saturday League, played in fine and warm but hazy conditions on Saturday, 10th September 2005.

Munir Dar secured the best figures of the day, claiming 5-26 as reigning league champions LSW Warriors made light work of Centaurs at PKVR1. Centaurs could only muster 160 with Chandrin top scoring with 52. In reply, LSW Warriors cruised to their target for the loss of only 4 wickets.

In the other match played at PKVR, Lamma scored a five wicket victory over Islanders, with G Mason claiming 4-10 from his 5 overs.

At Hong Kong Cricket Club, Gap Ramblers were made to work hard for their victory over CCC. Edwards (84) made the highest score of the day, but his efforts were in vain as CCC came up 12 runs short of Gap Ramblers total of 218-8 (the highest total of the day).

Another close match at Sandy Bay saw the home side HKU defeated by SubCont by 2 wkts. Chasing a target of 165 for victory, Subcont's Neeraj Chopra steered his team to victory with a fine 67, despite Moshen Hafeez's efforts with the ball, claiming 4-35.

Life was easier for Crusaders, who claimed a comfortable six wicket victory over Mainlanders at Kowloon Cricket Club. Mohanna Marzook claimed 4-17 in his first outing for the KCC team, whilst skipper Anthony Barnet eased his team to victory with an undefeated 49.

A tight affair was expected at Mission Road, where two of last season's best performed teams faced each other. Batting first MCC St George's could only muster a total of 122, with Belcastro and Ellis claiming 3 wickets each. In reply Kai Tak cruised to a five wicket victory with I Kohler scoring an undefeated 51.

Saracens, Tartars, Nomads, Witherers and Police all had byes.
