The Welsh Varsity Rugby Match is the biggest University match outside Oxford vs Cambridge, the pressure is on the cricketers to emulate the feat with their first ever Varsity Cricket Match. During the Easter Holidays, Club Captain Ben Mott has single handidly ensured that this is going to be an afternoon to remember.

The university boasts several county connections. Adam Davis, their first year opening quick bowler, is an England U-19 squad member on a summer contract with Glamorgan CCC. Dan Cherry, a top four batsman has enjoyed first team experience on Sundays with Glamorgan Dragons. Mohsin Ismael, just back from the MCC tour to South Africa, has enjoyed first team experience at Essex and Glamorgan. Club Captain Ben Mott, Middlesex YC is the prime instigator of the Welsh Varsity Match and fellow University Cricket Scholarship holder Dan Cullen at Worcester 2nd XI's batsman off spinner,

Captain Simon Perks said: "We are looking forward to recreating that Varsity vibe and giving Cardiff their usual defeat."

Cardiff University have been extremely low key on this and many other aspects of the Varsity Matches, perfecting their dark horse routine.

The match will be hosted at Sophia Gardens next season.
