The former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has agreed terms with Warwickshire, and is set to make a return to county cricket for the 2011 season, subject to a medical and a work permit application.
Younis, 32, averages 50.09 in his 63 Test appearances, the most recent of which came against Sri Lanka in Colombo in July 2009, while he has an average of 32.57 in 202 one-day internationals. Warwickshire will be his fourth county, following previous stints with Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Surrey.
"Everyone at Warwickshire is delighted that we have been able to complete the signing of Younis from the start of the 2011 season," said Warwickshire director of cricket Ashley Giles. "He is a great addition to the Bears' squad and will add tremendous depth to our batting line-up."
Younis added: "I am really looking forward to playing at Warwickshire next year and maintaining their high standards. Warwickshire have a fantastic team with Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott, and a great coach in Ashley Giles, so with the new ground development as well it's all very exciting."
His most recent stint in England came for Surrey last season where he managed 155 runs at 38.75 from three first-class games. Though speculation remains about the possibility of an international return, the PCB has not given him clearance for selection, on grounds of having made "inappropriate comments" about the board.
He is expected to join the Warwickshire squad for pre-season preparations next March and if he remains free of international commitments will be the senior batsman with Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell likely to be on England duty.
