Scorecard
Cheteshwar Pujara's unbeaten century topped a satisfying day for India A's batsmen as they ended the opening day of their second tour match against West Indies A at 329 for 5 at Croydon, Surrey. The other batsmen made starts but couldn't carry on to score half-centuries.
The Indian openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund, began steadily, adding 69 after opting to bat. Andre Russell, who took a five-for in the previous game, got the breakthrough when he had Abhinav caught for 39. Dhawan also fell short of a half-century when he was caught by the keeper Chadwick Walton for 43, off Gavin Tonge. West Indies struck again soon after when Ajinkya Rahane fell for 13 off Russell. After those two quick blows, India regained the momentum through an 89-run stand between Manish Pandey and Pujara. Pandey too failed to convert his start, falling for 36, as did Manoj Tiwary who fell for the same score.
Pujara remained steady and remained unbeaten on 111. He scored the bulk of his runs in boundaries, hitting 19 fours. Russell and Tonge were the only wicket-takers.
