West Indies A 349 (Simmons 100, Morton 86) lead Leicestershire 205 (New 59, Banks 3-36, Richardson 3-54) and 1 for 0 by 143 runs
Scorecard
Lendl Simmons made an even 100 and Runako Morton added 86 as West Indies A took control on the second day of their tour match against Leicestershire at Grace Road.
After resuming on 58 for 0, West Indies quickly lost Devon Smith for the addition of just one run to his overnight 27, but Simmons and Morton wrested control back with a second-wicket stand of 159. That was enough to carry their side into a first-innings lead, after Leicestershire had been bowled out for 205 on the first day.
However, Claude Henderson and the 22-year-old, Ryan Cummins, stuck to their task to ensure that the lead didn't get out of hand. Each took four wickets, but it was Daniel Rowe who started the collapse. He ended Simmons' vigil with the score on 225, whereupon West Indies lost two more for the addition of just four runs, including Morton.
Dwayne Smith smacked a brisk 36 with four fours and two sixes, and Omari Banks hung around for 23, as West Indies put together a useful first-innings lead of 144.
