Butcher to attend disciplinary hearing

Media Release

Text size: A | A

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that a Disciplinary Panel Hearing will be convened within approximately the next two weeks to hear the case of Mark Butcher, who recently criticised the action of Sri Lankan bowler, Ruchira Perera, in a local newspaper.

Butcher's comments, which claimed that the left-arm seamer threw his shorter deliveries, were made in his column for the Croydon Advertiser. Butcher later said that "no malice" had been intended.

Perera was reported by the match umpires for having a suspect action following the first npower Test Match at Lord's. He was not selected for the second npower Test.

England lead the three-match series 1-0, with the third and final npower Test starting at Old Trafford on Thursday 13 June.
