Alan Frederick Brazier was a right-handed batsmen who in 1949 scored 1,212 runs for Surrey Second XI in the Minor Counties competition to create a new record
but was never able to win a regular place in the strong Surrey side of his
time. Between 1948 and 1954 Brazier made 36 appearances for Surrey. He then moved to Kent but after a good start with his second county he fell away and left the county at the end of 1956 aver 20 appearances. In all first-class cricket Brazier scored 1,377 runs at an average of 17.07. He had a best score of 92 for Surrey against Northamptonshire at Northampton in 1952. Brazier, a Londoner from
Paddington who was educated at Southall Technical School, played most of his club cricket for Ealing Dean. In later years he was professional coach at St George's, Weybridge.
