Profile

Steve Adshead arrived at Gloucestershire in 2004 via Leicestershire and Worcestershire, where he had not had much opportunity to prove himself in the first team. He started the 2004 season as Jack Russell's understudy, but took over the gloves when the former England keeper retired midway through the summer. He quickly impressed with bat and gloves, and was part of the team that won the C&G Trophy that season. A year later he scored his maiden century, 148 not out against Surrey at the Oval. Having apparently firmly established as a vital part of the Gloucestershire set up - he played 70 of his 73 first-class games there - Adshead was released from the county after the 2009 season.
