 Profile

Jane Smit's England career spanned more than 15 years, beginning shortly before she was a member of the side which won the World Cup at Lord's in 1993 and ending in rather odd circumstances when she quit the tour of Australia in 2007-08. In between she became one of only a handful of women to play 100 ODIs (she finished with 109) and was part of the team which regained the Ashes in 2005. A wicketkeeper-batsman, she at one time held a share of the ODI record for England's fourth and fifth wicket partnerships respectively scoring an unbeaten 131 with Charlotte Edwards in Pune, 1997 and 188 not out with Claire Taylor in New Zealand. She used to also play hockey for Nottinghamshire, and worked in the finance department at Derby University.
