Ian Westwood is a promising opening batsman who made his debut for Warwickshire in 2004. He performed respectably in 2005 and was given a run at the top of the order at the initial expense of Mark Wagh in 2006 as Warwickshire's batsmen struggled in the Championship. He endured a mixed 2008 but was named the club's captain for 2009, replacing Darren Maddy.
