Mark Nelson was drafted into the England Under-19 squad for the World Cup in Sri Lanka following the withdrawal of Richard Jones with a back injury. He had previously played for England at U-17 and U-18 level. Nelson is a middle-order batsman and opening bowler, who plays for the Northamptonshire Academy and broke in the second XI late in the 2004 season.
