Profile

Ian Pont went into coaching after playing. He had a three-year stint as Essex's fast-bowling coach and was also the part-time fast-bowling coach of Netherlands, and coached them during the 2007 World Cup. He was also helping out when Netherlands were pummelled for a one-day record 447 at the hands of Sri Lanka in 2006. He has also worked with Netherlands women.

With a penchant for self-promotion, this Pont has also set up his own coaching award separate to the ECB and has his own coaching academy, too. This will be his focus from 2008 after leaving Essex. He has also written a book which claims to reveal the secrets of fast bowling.
