An allrounder, Steven Mullaney made his debut for Lancashire Second XI in 2004. He has played for Leigh in the Liverpool Competition, and in 2005 toured India with the England Under-19. Although overlooked for England's tour of Bangladesh later that year, in which England lost 11-0, he was selected for the World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2006. However, after signing a professional contract in 2006 he struggled to break into the first team over four seasons and after the 2009 campaign opted to leave Lancashire.
