The grandson of Sonny Ramadhin, Hogg has struggled to cement a regular place in the Lancashire line-up since making a promising start in 2001. There was early talk of an England one-day call, so much so that when James Anderson was selected in 2002-03 it was joked that they'd named the wrong player. However, despite an Academy place that winter his name has slipped well off the radar as a series of injuries have hampered his last three seasons. He is a nippy, rather than quick, seamer and his batting has always shown more promise than results suggest.
