Overview

The Batley ground was opened in 1880 as a joint venture between the town's cricket and rugby clubs, and the venue's only first-class match came in 1883. If the attempt was to persuade Yorkshire that this was a venue worth visiting, it failed, largely because of its bleak location. It has not even hosted 2nd XI matches.
