According to eye-witnesses at the ground, a sizeable section of the roof of the Tavern Stand, on the South-Eastern perimeter of the ground, was torn off in the winds and deposited in the neighbouring St John's Wood Road.
One car was fully enveloped by the roof, with the rear window smashed, and the driver is currently being treated for shock at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. The incident occurred at midday on Thursday, and the road remained closed a full three hours later.
That wasn't the only misfortune to befall the ground, as a tree was also blown down in the gales, and is currently wedged between Grove End Road and the Harris Memorial Gardens, behind the pavilion on the eastern side of the ground.
