Profile
A right arm off break bowler, Venkatramana's only Test was against
West Indies in 1989 when he picked up the wicket of Desmond Haynes
shortly before West Indies won the match. Besides West Indies, he also
toured New Zealand in 1990. He gained national recognition following
some brilliant performances around the domestic circuit. He was
prominent in Tamil Nadu winning the Ranji Trophy in 1987-88, finishing
with 35 wickets and also played a leading part in South Zone winning
the Duleep Trophy in 1989-90. He took over 200 wickets in the Ranji
Trophy. Venkatramana also played for a few years in English league
