Coach Education |
|
Coaches are divided into four categories from Level I to Level IV. Priority is given to coach education with regular programmes being arranged to upgrade their knowledge and skills.
A Coaches Day is held every month at district level when workshops are conducted for the benefit of school and district coaches. There are 22 cricket playing districts in the country.
Coaching courses are arranged for Level I coaches in the outstations. In addition to cricket coaches, school teachers in charge of cricket and physical training instructors too can attend.
Special training courses are conducted periodically. A course was held for Level II coaches in 2007 with the assistance of Cricket Australia. Four programmes, each of six day duration were attended by 102 participants. They comprised of Provincial and District coaches as well as Club and School coaches. Ross Turner, Chris Harris, Graham House, Andrew Zessers and Toot Byron from Cricket Australia conducted the programmes.
Following these courses evaluations are carried out in order to assess the knowledge and skills of the coaches and they are graded according to the marks received.
