- 10.10.03 - Statistics from the prestigious Yorkshire League reveal twice Hong Kong Player of the Year Hussain Butt to have been by far the League's top wicket taker with an analysis of 345.2 - 48 - 1141 - 66 - 17.28. This included the best match analysis of 8-81 against Yorkshire Academy. Hussain was one of only two League players to top 50 wickets and 500 runs (the other being South Australian Deitz).
- 24.09.02 - Hong Kong's captain Rahul Sharma reports that he is now being sponsored by the latest cricket bat manufacturing company - Woodworm Cricket Company, UK. "They have chosen me to be their brand ambassador for this region. I will be using the famous "Wand" this season in Hong Kong. They are the latest company to join the very competitive world of cricket bat manufacturers. The unique feature of the Woodworm Wand is the shape of the cricket bat with the "cutaways". Wood is removed from the most vulnerable zone and is re-distributed into an enhanced central hitting zone giving added power and a lighter pick-up. It also features an excellent new "Oz" grip from Australia, which provides for increased control of the bat. The feel is completely different, and the driving simply a pleasure. This, in my opinion is a very high quality cricket bat that is very good for stroke makers (not sloggers)." The Woodworm Wand is making a mark at the highest level now. Sri Lankan middle-order batsman Russel Arnold was one of the first international batsmen to use this wonderful piece of willow. Soon, other players like Abdur Razzaq of Pakistan and Avishka Gunawardene of Sri Lanka too have joined the club of players' wielding the "Wand".
- 16.09.02 - Hong Kong Player of the Year Hussain Butt returns this week after a highly successful overseas season with newly crowned Yorkshire League Champions Harrogate Cricket Club. Best bowling 5 for 25 v York. Best batting 169 not out v Rotherham, the highest individual score in the League (8 sixes, 14 fours, 3 lost balls). (He has done Hong Kong cricket proud. A very big thanks to Mike and Martin for their support).
