Date-stamped : 06 May95 - 06:30 ENG B+H 1993 - Round 1: NOTTINGHAMSHIRE v SOMERSET Nottingham, 11 May 1993 A brilliant innings by Lathwell, who hit 77 from 59 balls and put on 137 with Folland, gave Somerset a flying start. When Harden and Tavare extended that to 237 for two, a target of 280 looked easy. But then Mike, with a one-day best performance of four for 44, reduced them to 254 for six and suddenly there was a fight on. Somerset entered the final over still needing seven runs, with two wickets in hand; Pick bowled Caddick but, with the scores level, van Troost struck a four from the last ball. Nottinghamshire`s innings was dominated by 80 from Pollard; they were helped when Hayhurst broke down with a groin strain in his second over (he later batted with a runner). Tavare fell back on Lathwell as an emergency bowler, and he conceded 49 in four overs. Thanks: 1994 Wisden Contributed by cp (help@cricinfo.com)
