120.5 to HAPW Jayawardene, the offstump is off the ground.... Powell does the trick with the new ball, he pitches it on a full length outside off and gets it to curve in to the right hander, Prasanna goes for the off drive but the ball creeps through the daylight between bat and pad and sends the offstump back by about two yards. 331/6
33811043.3315014000
42.4 to MG Vandort, West Indies finally breakthrough.... Taylor gets it to swing in and land on a yorker length on middle and leg, Vandort tries to work it past square leg but is beaten for pace and struck close to his boot, easy decision for umpire Taufel. 130/1
82.1 to KC Sangakkara, loss of concentration from Sangakkara...Taylor pitches it full and wide outside off, Sangakkara rightfully goes for the drive but doesn't use his feet, he fails to cover the line and gets a thick edge to Smith at first slip who takes it above waist height. 243/3
82.3 to TT Samaraweera, that's two for the over....Taylor pitches it up on off and middle, Samaraweera closes the face of the bat and goes for a lazy chip over the on side, the ball travels low to Travis Dowlin at short midwicket but he gets behind the ball and holds it with two hands. 243/4
94.4 to TM Dilshan, Taylor sets him up and gets his reward... pitches just a shade outside the line of offstump and comes back in, Dilshan gets forward to defend but the ball skids through and strikes him on the pad, Taylor appeals confidently, Taufel thinks for a while and raises his finger. Replays showed the ball just missing the legstump but it's only marginal. 277/5
2746622.441175000
157.2 to DPMD Jayawardene, Captain gets captain.... Gayle fires that in a little quicker, Jayawardene gets cheeky with another reverse sweep, the ball lands a little too full for comfort and Jayawardene meets the ball on the gloves. Gayle appeals and Bowden gives it out. The batsman looks a little bemused as the ball didn't strike his leg. 457/7
159.6 to T Thushara, switches to over the wicket, Gayle lands it quite short, the ball comes on really slowly to Tushara who shapes to pull, he doesn't get the desired elevation as Travis Dowlin steps backwards at deep midwicket and takes it easily. Dowlin's taken two already. So much for his 48 hours of fame. 459/8
3037412.461355012
69.3 to SM Warnapura, Bravo does the trick....He bangs it in short of a length on off stump and gets it to slant into the left-hander, Warnapura tries to glance it fine but withdraws his stroke, the ball clips his gloves and he doesn't wait for the umpire's decision, he walks. 205/2

2.6 to CH Gayle, pitches on a good length on middle and straightens, Gayle has a half prod forward but fails to cover the line of the ball, it hits him flush on the knee roll in front of the stumps, Bowden raises the crooked finger. 4/1
67.5 to RR Sarwan, Really smart work by Prasanna Jayawardene, Vaas bowls the offcutter, Sarwan goes for the uppish drive but gets a thin outside edge, the ball travels very quickly to the keeper (who's standing upto the stumps), he juggles the ball and hangs onto it with his right hand, superb reflexes. Sarwan knows he's gone and West Indies have lost their mainstay for 80.. 162/6
92.1 to D Ramdin, a wicket falls against the run of play, Vaas pitches it up fairly wide outside off and gets it to slant across, Ramdin drives away from his body and the ball flies off the toe of the bat to Sangakkara who takes it comfortably at first slip. 236/8
20.535932.83935000
19.2 to DS Smith, Thushara gets the first breakthrough, Thushara lands that just outside off and gets it to straighten, the ball keeps lower than Smith expected and a lazy waft away from his body results in a thin edge to Prasanna Jayawardene. There was no doubt about that edge. 46/2
25.1 to MN Samuels, poor shot by Samuels... Thushara drifts really wide outside off and gets it to shape away, Samuels stays rooted to the crease and tries to glide that wide of the slips, he gets a thick edge to Prasanna who falls to his right and cups it with both hands. It was not a wicket-taking delivery, just a very poor shot. 58/3
111.5 to DBL Powell, pitches outside off, Powell goes for the off drive but the ball clips the toe of his bat and travels low to Mahela Jayawardene at second slip. Powell isn't sure and he stands his ground, believing that to be a bump ball. The Sri Lankans are confident and the umpires confer. They eventually give him out. The replays aren't very conclusive. Perhaps another look will help.. 280/10
10202.0040000

40.6 to S Chanderpaul, soft dismissal.... Murali flights that outside off, it lands in the length to drive through the offside, Chanderpaul ends up scooping it straight to Warnapura at short cover. Chanderpaul nearly breaks the stumps with his bat, that's how frustrated he is with that tame scoop. 99/4
44.3 to DJ Bravo, Murali fires in the quicker one, that lands outside the line of offstump and turns in, Bravo has a big shuffle across the stumps and tries to glance it fine but is beaten for extra pace, the ball strikes him in line of middle and leg stumps. easy decision for Bowden. 109/5
78.4 to RO Hinds, West Indies lose another crucial wicket... Murali pitches that on middle and gets it to turn away, Hinds pokes forward to defend but fails to cover the line as the ball takes the outside edge. Prasanna knows he's got him and Bowden agrees. 193/7

22.5 to KC Sangakkara, Sangakkara falls trying to push the scoring, he gets across his stumps and tries to flick a full delivery outside off over mid-on, he gets a leading edge which falls down Fidel Edwards' throat at mid-off. Edwards, in for Taylor, in fact told Taylor to stay indoors for one more over. Well he does his good deed for the day. 94/2
30.2 to SM Warnapura, Bravo can't believe his luck, he pitches it wide and quite short outside off, Warnapura stays rooted to the crease and tries to cut and gets a thick edge to Ramdin, poor ball and an equally poor shot but West Indies will take it. 133/3

4.3 to DS Smith, brilliant catch... Vaas digs it in short, Smith gets across and falls for the hook, the top edge sails towards long leg and Thushara sprints from fine leg and pulls off of a brilliant take falling low to his right. 22/1
57.5 to MN Samuels, poor shot, Vaas bowls that wide of offstump and gets it to slant away, Samuels, after shouldering arms to the same delivery the previous ball decides to fish at it and gets a thin edge which Sangakkara accepts diving to his right with both hands. 171/3
61.1 to S Chanderpaul, big blow for West Indies, Vaas lands it outside off, not much swing there, Chanderpaul gets across a little late and ends up getting a thick inside edge onto his middle stump The stump is pegged back and so is West Indies. The pressure mounts on Sarwan now.. 178/4
102.1 to JE Taylor, the new ball works, Vaas thuds it in short of a length, the ball holds its line and kicks up on him towards his chest, he tries to fend it off and only manages to spoon it to Dilshan at second slip. 291/9
106.2 to DBL Powell, Amazing! simply astounding! You won't see better catches than that! Powell tries to scoop it over the infield on the off side, he doesn't get the desired elevation, Murali runs backwards at mid-off, he keeps his gaze at it and pulls off a blinder with his right-hand and falls over backwards. He hands onto it while he's still airborne. All ten of them crowd around him and Sri Lanka have won their first ever Test on West Indies soil and take a 1-0 lead in the series. 315/10
1727024.11767008
75.5 to RR Sarwan, West Indies lose their mainstay....Thushara angles this into him from round the wicket, the ball lands outside the line of offstump and cuts in, Sarwan tries to tuck it away and the ball hits him just on the knee roll, Bowden has a long look at it and gives it out, there was a bit of doubt whether that would have hit the legstump, may have just shaved it. 212/5
83.5 to D Ramdin, it all seemed so inevitable after getting beaten repeatedly in the over, Thushara pitches this one on the corridor outside off, Ramdin pokes at it and gets a thick outside edge which travels low to Jayawardene at first slip. 231/7
2274402.001053101
45611232.4820811101
50.5 to DJ Bravo, Sri Lanka finally get the breakthrough, flighted on middle and off, Bravo gives him the charge but ends up spooning it back to Murali who shows good reflexes and hangs onto it, the ball travelled fairly quickly off the bat. Very enterprising knock by Bravo given the circumstances, he deserved a ton. 156/2
82.4 to RO Hinds, just before tea... Murali floats this one down the legside, it's not the conventional offspinner as it goes straight through, Hinds goes for the sweep but doesn't pull it off, Sangakkara gets across the stumps quickly and claims the catch. The Sri Lankans are confident they've got him and Taufel agrees. Replays are inconclusive as to whether that shaved the edge, the bat did hit the pitch on the sweep. Hinds was a bit stunned at the decision. 229/6
88.3 to SJ Benn, he's squared up by the doosra, lands on middle and off, Benn gets forward, expecting it to turn away but the ball strikes him on the pad in front of middle and off, Taufel thinks for a while and raises the finger. 244/8
