0.1 to RJ Burns, knocks him over first ball! Full yorker which crashes into the base of leg stump. Burns is nowhere, falling over to the off side as he looks to clip off the pads. Angled into the left-hander from over the wicket, but this actually tailed away late and sharply to hit the base of leg stump. What a start from Starc!. 0/1
40.3 to JC Buttler, gottim, feathered through! Starc finds the edge, finds a response for Australia. Tight line on off stump, slung across the right-hander and it kicks up to graze the bat, Buttler feeling for it reflexively when he could perhaps have left on length. Had to wait a while for No.2 but Starc does the job again for his captain. 112/6
1344223.23605000
3.2 to DJ Malan, nicked him off, Hazlewood strikes! Textbook Hazlewood. Just a fraction back of length, angling across the left-hander, and plenty of bounce with a hint of nip off the seam. Malan doesn't need to play at it, but dangles his bat and his thick outside edge is gobbled up by Carey, who has his first catch in Test cricket. 11/2
5.5 to JE Root, edged and gobbled up at first slip! Perfect set-up from Hazlewood and Root has a duck. England three down inside the first half-hour. Hazlewood forced Root onto the back foot with the previous ball, finding some nip back into the right-hander, and now draws him forward. He presses at it but it kisses the outside edge with just a hint of nibble away off the seam, and Warner takes a sharp chance at slip. Went slightly wider on the crease. 11/3
13.133852.88613010
12.4 to BA Stokes, squared up and a thick edge sails to third slip! Patty C has his first wicket as skip, and it's a big one! Just back of a length, rearing at the body and Stokes fences, the ball straightens and he can only steer it towards Labuschagne, who dives to his left for a low catch. Reports of the Gabbatoir's demise have been exaggerated!. 29/4
26.4 to H Hameed, thick outside edge, and Smith pouches it at second slip! Cummins is slightly wider on the crease and a fraction fuller in length. Healthy movement away off the seam as Hameed prods forward defensively. The nip away means it takes the outside edge, and Smith holds on in the cordon after a slight juggle. Not sure Hameed needed to play at that, but he was sucked in. The new leadership duo combine. 60/5
44.3 to OE Robinson, pitched up and nicked off! Yeroutofhere! Easy as that for captain Cummins, who adds to the procession by seeing off Robinson with a textbook three-card trick: couple of short ones then dangle a drive ball. Another duck for England. It's hunting season once again at the Gabba. 122/8
48.3 to MA Wood, bumped off, fended straight to short leg! Wood knows he's going to get peppered but can't do anything about it, bottom hand coming off as the ball pops up off the handle into the waiting mitts of Marcus Harris. Cummins has four, England still haven't made 150 - this captaincy lark is easy!. 144/9
50.1 to CR Woakes, Hazlewood tumbles at fine leg, FIVE for Cummins! His first in Ashes Tests, and his first as Australia's captain! Not all that short but Woakes wasn't in control as he swung blindly and got a top edge... work still to do once again, but Hazlewood makes it look easy. Everything Cummins up nicely for Australia so far, England rolled for 147 after choosing to bat. 147/10
922102.33422000

43.1 to OJ Pope, dug in short, Pope top-edges a hook... and Hazlewood takes a blinder! First Test wicket for Cam Green, and it's one to remember! He's mobbed by his team-mates as Pope trudges off. Extra bounce from the towering allrounder and Pope couldn't keep it down, but Green still has Hazlewood to thank for hauling ass around the rope and then throwing himself full length to bag the catch. 118/7

64.4 to AT Carey, swatted straight to midwicket! Carey swishes his bat in anger at himself, came off the toe and picked out the man... first wicket for Woakes and it keeps England hanging in there. Back of a length and inviting the pull shot, but Carey neither went fully aerial or tried to keep it down. 236/6
95.6 to MA Starc, goes big, but holes out to deep square leg! Pace off and Starc miscues it to the one boundary rider out there... Finally England get the breakthrough, second wicket of a persevering display from Woakes. No problem for Burns holding on to this one. 391/8
2385832.521149000
5.2 to MS Harris, Robinson makes the breakthrough, Harris gobbled up in the cordon! Excellent length again, starting on the stumps and then seaming just a fraction - enough to draw a nibble from Harris, thick outside edge and Malan snares a good low catch at third slip. England amongst 'em. 10/1
55.2 to DA Warner, scooped into the covers, and Stokes holds this one! Warner gone in the 90s, his luck finally running out... Seemed to be done by a lack of pace, although I'm not sure if that was deliberate or just a post-tea loosener. Length ball, Warner lunged at it, but only managed to balloon the ball into the covers. Immediately you could see his lips forming a Darth Vader: "Noooooooooooooo!!!". 195/4
55.3 to C Green, bowled not playing a shot! Robinson has two in two! Precisely calibrated nip-backer, kisses the top of off stump as Green plants the front foot! A hopeful leave, I think, but it came back a fair way. Eerie silence around the Gabba. Can England wrest back the momentum?. 195/5
25.348533.331169111
52.6 to SPD Smith, edged and gone! Wood finally gets his reward. Wide on the crease again, banged in on a length, in the channel outside his off stump. Smith had an awkward fiddle at it without moving his feet and fiddled a thin edge through to Buttler. Wood's back foot was close to the return crease but not close enough for Smith to survive! No real movement off the seam, just a false shot by Smith who was rushed by Wood's extra pace. 189/3
102.3 to NM Lyon, banged in short, Lyon takes on the pull again and skews it straight up to square leg. Deserved reward for Wood, who has toiled hard for a day and a bit. Got big on him, hit the splice of the bat, and a straightforward catch for Robinson. 420/9
104.3 to TM Head, timber! Head backs away, giving himself plenty of room outside leg to try and flay a cross-batted shot away through the covers. But Wood goes full and straight, and his lethal yorker rearranges Head's stumps. 425/10
1206505.41468113
13010217.84398500
47.2 to M Labuschagne, cut straight to point! Leach makes the breakthrough after 6.1 overs of punishment. Loose shot from Labuschagne who was looking to hit every ball for a boundary. Not Leach's best ball by any means, dropping a fraction short, but Labuschagne was taken by surprise by a hint of extra bounce and slapped it straight to Wood at point. England finally hold onto a chance! Slight top edge, and Marnus is furious with himself as he slinks off. 166/2
602914.83220100
75.6 to PJ Cummins, caught at leg slip! Captain gets captain. Fullish in length, down the leg side from wide on the crease round the wicket. Cummins looked to clip it away behind square but got a thickish inside edge, and Hameed held onto a relatively straightforward low catch. Muted celebrations from England. Cummins whacks his pad with his bat on his way off. 306/7

20.6 to H Hameed, feathered down the leg side, Starc's wonky radar somehow hits paydirt! Short ball, rising towards the armpit and for all the world looks like more easy runs - only for Hameed to get a little tucked up and tickle a glove through to Carey! Up goes the finger and Hameed won't linger. Looked good again, but doesn't last. 61/2
1463212.28726000
91.1 to JC Buttler, nicked off! Will Australia even need to bat again? Hazlewood gets his first as Buttler has a fiddle. Good length on a sixth-stump line, a hint of nip away off the seam but no need to play at it. Buttler does regardless, with his hands away from his body, and his outside edge is straight into Carey's gloves. Looks like it kept a touch low, hitting Buttler low on the bat. Possibly should have come forward to it but played it off the back foot. 268/7
2065122.55944010
8.6 to RJ Burns, ripsnorter takes the glove - Burns is gone! First one goes and it's the skipper again. That's just taken off from slightly back of a length, and although you can say Burns could have left it alone, that's with the benefit of hindsight. Wanted to cut but it was at him before he could really commit, kissing the fingers of the bottom hand on its way through. 23/1
88.4 to BA Stokes, caught in the gully! Cummins gets Stokes and England slip further towards defeat. Big trigger movement across to the off side and Cummins manages to square him up with a hint of movement off the seam. Skews away into the gully off the outside edge, high on the bat as the face closes in his hands and Green takes the catch, tumbling to his left. England six down and still behind!. 266/6
3459142.6715412000
73.4 to DJ Malan, skips down, squeezes the ball into the front pad - finally, Lyon roars for 400! All the Australians were appealing for this one, and Rod Tucker's finger goes up for the catch at bat-pad! Malan knows he's hit this, too, and turns on his heel for the dressing room. Australia get the early wicket they desperately needed, and Lyon's 11-month-long wait on 399 is over. 223/3
77.3 to OJ Pope, Lyon snaffles another! Rip and bounce with Pope looking to cut and then having to readjust, ends up practically punching to slip! Australians whoop and sing as Pope mooches off, the old Gabba magic is quickly reasserting itself. 234/5
97.5 to OE Robinson, reverse-sweeps straight to point! That is not a great shot. On a length, Robinson premeditates but fails to consider the extra bounce that Lyon gets from his overspin. He top-edges it, and it's a straightforward catch at backward point for Head, running to his right. 286/8
101.4 to MA Wood, tossed up, yorks him! Much more flight from Lyon than we've seen throughout the majority of this Test and some drift too. Very full, sneaking under the toe of Wood's bat as he came forward to drive, and it trims the outer half of off stump thanks to plenty of turn off the straight. Lyon has four, Australia have nine, England have big problems!. 296/9
1232321.91602010
76.1 to JE Root, Root fiddles and is caught behind, the wait for a ton in Oz goes on! Oh my, what an opening half hour for Australia! Cameron Green gets the big fish, very similar to the one that nearly tempted Root from the final ball of the day last night. Full enough in the channel to get him pushing out, though without any real conviction, and it's a feather edge through to Carey. Root drags himself away looking thoroughly cheesed off. No hundred, and no margin for error for his side now. 229/4
102.6 to CR Woakes, feathered through to Carey! England have lost 8 wickets for 77 runs on the fourth morning and Australia need 20 to win after lunch. Woakes was backing away, looking to upper-cut over the slips to keep himself on strike. Green followed him with the short ball, and Woakes could only edge it through to the keeper. 297/10
