Text size: A | A

  • It was the 1636th one-day international in cricket history.

  • It was South Africa's 209th and England's 319th ODI.

  • It was the 23rd match between these two sides. The record now reads: South Africa 16, England 7.

  • Umpires Darrell Hair and Srinivas Venkataraghavan officiated in their 63rd and 32nd match respectively.

  • Paul Grayson made his ODI debut. He became the 160th player to represent England in One-day internationals.

  • Grayson made a duck on debut. He became the eighth Englishman to make a duck on debut. However he is only the third to make a golden duck (dismissed off first ball faced) after Neil Foster (v New Zealand at Christchurch on 18-02-1984) and Craig White (v Australia at Sydney on 06-12-1994).

  • Jacques Kallis on 63, completed 1000 runs in the year 2000. He became the third to do so after fellow teammate Gary Kirsten and Pakistan's Yousuf Youhana.

  • The unbroken third wicket partnership of 132 runs between Jacques Kallis and Boeta Dippenaar is the best for South Africa for this wicket against England. This obliterates the previous record stand of 118 between Hansie Cronje and Kallis at Kingsmead, Durban on 17-01-1996.

  • The defeat was England's largest against South Africa and 11th largest in ODIs (by wicket margin). South Africa had earlier beaten England by seven wickets at Centurion on 14-01-1996.

  • The victory was South Africa's tenth largest in ODIs (by wicket margin).

  • Jacques Kallis won Man of the Match award for the 14th time in his career.
