Ladies inter-club cricket

The second Ladies inter-club limited over cricket tournament will be played at the Colts grounds, Havelock Park from Saturday. The final and the third place play-offs will be at the same venue of June 8.
The tournament is organised by the Colts Cricket Club and sponsored by Pepsi for the second successive year.
At least seven top ladies teams, including two from Anuradhapura, will be seen action in this 30 overs-a-side tournament.
The teams will play on a semi league basis and the top two teams will play in the final on June 8 afternoon starting at 1.45 p.m. The two second-placed teams in each group will play in the third place play off match scheduled for the same day morning.
The champion team will receive the Pepsi challenge trophy and Rs. 10,000/- in cash. The runners up will receive a trophy plus Rs. 5,000/-. The third placed team will get a cash prize of Rs. 2,500/-. There will also be special awards for the best batswoman, best bowler, best fielder and the woman of the final.
The teams which are expected to take part are Colts CC, Nomads SC, Young Ladies, Colombo Ladies, Samudra SC from Wennappuwa, Polonnaruwa Ladies DCA and Shakthi SC from Anuradhapura. (D.W.)
