South Africa will rest Jacques Kallis from Tuesday's "dead rubber" Super Eights match against India due to a back complaint. Kallis' omission means Morne Morkel will play his first match at the World Twenty20 and continue the short-pitched barrage that so unsettled India's batsmen during Sunday's loss to England.
"It gives us an aggressive bowing option," captain Graeme Smith said. "A few other guys slide up the order and get more batting chances. This is our last week of what has been a great season so we want to make it count.
"Jacques has a back niggle and we are taking precautions with him. We do feel like we would like an aggressive bowling option."
The World Twenty20 is South Africa's last international assignment until the Champions Trophy in September. As such, Smith said his team was ready to give its all for one final push. "We've got a week left in our season and obviously it's a very important week," he said. "Going into the semis we've played pretty much every team left in the competition, whether it was in the warm-ups or in the tournament.
"We certainly have the potential to raise the benchmark and play that standard of cricket. Our senior players have a few years left in them and we have young players coming through. It's taken its time to get there and now we're starting to reap the benefits of players coming through. There's great talent and confidence in the younger lads. We can really take charge of our talent and destiny."
