Callum Ferguson benefitted from Queensland's donations in the field to post a lively century as South Australia finished the second day four runs short of first-innings points at the Gabba. Ferguson received three lives on 2, 8 and 29 before recording three figures for the first time in four years, while the import Younis Khan scored his first hundred for the state on an impressive day for the visitors.

Chasing Queensland's 352, South Australia were struggling at 3 for 121 after Shane Watson was on a hat-trick, but Younis and Ferguson steadied the situation then sped away during a 131-run partnership. Ferguson's century came from only 90 balls and he was on 128 when bad light stopped play, having hit 18 fours and two sixes, and his side was happy at 4 for 348.

Pakistan's Younis opened the innings and stayed until he edged behind to Watson on 118. It was Watson's third wicket but he could have had another when Ferguson was dropped twice off his bowling - and Watson also spilled a chance. They were crucial mistakes and Ferguson took advantage in a brutal manner.

An unbroken stand of 96 with Graham Manou (31) added to the home side's problems late in the day. Watson removed Michael Klinger for 22 before lunch and then followed up next ball by having Cameron Borgas caught behind, but Ferguson and Younis quickly turned things around for the visitors.
