Australia A stormed to an innings and 203-run win over Pakistan A in the first Test in Faisalabad as the hosts were dismissed for 255 in their second innings on the fourth and final day after resuming on their overnight score of 86 for 3.

Needing another 372 on the last day to make Australia bat again, Pakistan were in trouble right from the start and only an 88-run seventh wicket partnership between Mansoor Amjad and Sarfraz Ahmed ensured Pakistan went past 200. Pakistan, however, lost their last three wickets without any addition in the score as the spin pairing of Dan Cullen and Stuart MacGill picked up three wickets each.

Pakistan did not start well with Yasir Hameed adding only 11 runs to his overnight score of 36 before being caught behind by Luke Ronchi off James Hopes. The hosts then tried their best to bat out the day with defensive batting but lost wickets regularly. Mohammad Irshad, the nightwatchman, was caught by David Hussey off Cullen for a 94-ball 27 while Faisal Iqbal, Pakistan's captain, made a 101-ball 24 before falling lbw to MacGill.

From 148 for 6, Mansoor and Sarfraz took Pakistan to 236 without any further loss but a surprise bowling change, Adam Voges bringing on Hussey, resulted in the wicket of Mansoor after a patient 40 off 170 balls. Sarfraz soon followed on 48 as Abdur Rauf and Atif Maqbool were back in the pavilion without doing any more damage.

Pakistan, who completed a clean sweep of the ODI series, now head to Lahore for the second and final Test starting on September 19.
