Stuart Broad will be offered a new contract by Leicestershire in an attempt to prevent him being lured away by another county. Broad made his one-day debut during the summer and was named in the Academy squad for the winter.
"Stuart is contracted for at least another year and we will be looking to ensuring that remains the case," Tom Boon, the county coach, said on the club's website. "He is very much a Leicestershire lad, having come through the development system and we hope that he will show loyalty to the Club that has given him this opportunity in the game."
Boon admitted that Broad's success would be a double-edged sword, in that England call-ups would limit his county outings. "We have to be realistic in our outlook concerning Stuart and prepare for the fact that he may not play much for Leicestershire in the future due to his England commitments."
