David Parsons has been appointed the new spin-bowling coach of the ECB. Parsons, who currently coaches the England Under-15s will be tasked with developing a spin-bowling strategy for all levels of the game. The Lord's Taverners will help with funding.
The first job for Parsons, a Level 4 qualified ECB Coach, will be to assist Peter Moores, the National Academy Director, on England A's forthcoming tour of West Indies.
Hugh Morris, the ECB's deputy chief executive, said: "Following the successful implementation of our fast-bowling programme under the leadership of Troy Cooley, the creation of this post is designed to identify and develop spin bowlers at all levels and we are immensely grateful to the Lord's Taverners for supporting this initiative.
"David has worked closely with Terry Jenner in the recent past as well as visiting the World Cricket Academy in Mumbai with Peter Moores before Christmas, and his role will be to implement a spin-bowling programme which will draw on the expertise of both past and present spin bowlers."
