Four members of Ireland's squad finally arrived last night in Namibia, for their Intercontinental semi-final against UAE at Windhoek on Sunday, after a 31-hour journey.

The four players - Kyle McCallan, Andrew White, Peter Gillespie and Greg Thompson - were stranded in Belfast, London and Frankfurt owing to delays with each of their flights.

"It was almost laughable," McCallan told BBC Sport. "At Heathrow, our flight to Frankfurt was then delayed an hour. Then the flight to Namibia was held up due to a problem with the toilets. We got a few hours sleep on the plane but I don't think any of us will be partying tonight.

"One of the problems was that our passports and visas were left on a desk for us to collect at Gatwick but by the time we got there that desk was already closed for the night. In total it took us 31 hours to get from Belfast to Frankfurt. I could have driven there quicker."
