Ridley Jacobs has been ruled out of the remainder of West Indies' tour of England after undergoing surgery to repair a small tear in his right knee. He will return home to Antigua on Wednesday, and will miss the final Test at The Oval which starts on Thursday (August 19). The knee injury forced him out of the current Test at Old Trafford, in which his replacement, Carlton Baugh, impressed with an innings of 68.

Jacobs, who is 37 in November, has played in 65 Tests, and 147 one-day internationals - although both he and Baugh had already been jettisoned for the Champions Trophy in England in September, to make way for the return of Courtney Browne.

A statement from the West Indian tour management explained that Jacobs would be out of competitive cricket for six weeks after having an operation in Manchester on Friday to repair a small tear in the meniscus of his right knee. No replacement is to be called up.
