The Chairman of the Interim Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, and a few Members of the Interim Committee, along with the Chief Executive of the BCCSL, met with Mr. Muthiah Muralitharan on Tuesday, 30th July 2002, regarding comments made by Mr. Muralitharan on the MTV Cricket Classic programme on Wednesday 17th July 2002.
The Committee, whilst expressing their disappointment with the comments made by Mr. Muralitharan, cautioned and advised him to refrain from making such comments, and informed him that disciplinary action will be taken against him if he acted in this manner in the future.
