Surrey took just 24 minutes to wrap up the innings and 60 run victory over Hampshire to further their claims to the Frizzell County Championship title and relegate the visitors back to the bottom three.

Continuing to bowl the spinning duo of Saqlain Mushtaq and Ian Salisbury in tandem, Hampshire added a further 26 runs, mainly from the bat of Dimitri Mascarenhas.

When play started on time, despite the heavy rain of the previous evening, the only question that remained unanswered was whether he would reach a well-deserved century but he fell six runs short.

James Hamblin added three to his overnight 13 before chipping back to Salisbury and Mascarenhas went down fighting, pummelling the leg-spinner into the Vauxhall End for a third six.

But it was only a matter of time and, playing a shot that had brought him a host of runs during his 124-ball innings of 94 - the cut through the covers - he mistimed one and could not get the ball over the tall figure of James Ormond.

Salisbury closed with 3-104 from 27.4 overs, but was overshadowed by the Surrey hero of day three, Saqlain Mushtaq. He finished with 6-121 and 11-180 in the match.
