The ICC Match Referee Mr. Cammie Smith held an inquiry into the dissention shown by Indian Captain Mr. Sourav Ganguly for the L.B.W decision given by Umpire Gamini Silva during the India vs New Zealand one day international match at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama, Colombo on Thursday 26th July 2001.
Mr. Cammie Smith has found Mr. Sourav Ganguly in breach of the ICC Code of Conduct clause 3.
In view of this breach Mr. Sourav Ganguly has been suspended by Mr. Cammie Smith from playing in the next match of the tournament, India vs. Sri Lanka on Saturday 28th July 2001.
