Holland defeated Denmark with a 41-run win in the ICC Trophy Super League which got under way here Monday.

Holland, who had qualified for the main league with an advantage of six points, enhanced their tally to eight - two points clear of their close rivals, Scotland, who defeated Ireland by seven wickets.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) also posted an identical seven-wicket victory over USA. Another North American team, Canada, went down fighting to Namibia by two wickets.

At Ajax, Denmark were happy when they sent Holland crashing to 174 but still the total looked challenging as the wicket was offering significant movement off the seam and encouraging turn for the spinners.

Taking full advantage of a somewhat hostile pitch, Holland's bowlers Roland Lefebvre (3 for 14), Adeel Raja (3 for 28) and Asim Khan (2 for 14) subdued the rival batsmen who finally collapsed to 133.

At the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club, wicketkeeper/batsman Melt van Schoor steered Namibia to victory over Canada with a solid knock of 68.

Earlier, the host nation had reached 189 before being disintegrated. Ian Billcliff (54) was their top scorer. Namibia's paceman van Vuuren finished with four for 33.

Ahmed Nadeem (47) and Asim Saeed (52) powered UAE to a facile win over USA with their brilliant batting performance. They both remained unbeaten to give their side invaluable two points.

At Malton Stadium, 30 kilometres north of Toronto, Ireland were restricted to 174 for eight by Scotland, who later reached the target for the loss of just three wickets. Scotland were powered by Colin Smith (68 not out) and Douglas Lockhart (64).
