Profile
Tim Nielsen was a talented wicketkeeper-batsman for South Australia who quickly made his mark in the coaching arena. After playing in 101 first-class matches and overtaking Barry Jarman's state wicketkeeping record with 316 dismissals, Nielsen retired in 1999 to become an assistant coach at the Redbacks. He spent three years helping John Buchanan in the national set-up before becoming the head coach of the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane in 2005. "Working with 'Buck' and being on the tour was great," he said. "He's almost a mentor for me and we bounced ideas off eachother. It was a brilliant relationship." Buchanan walked away from the post after his second World Cup win and handed the reins to Nielsen.
