One of the three wicketkeepers tried out in the three match series against the Australian Services team in 1945, TV Parthasarathi replaced his Madras teammate MO Srinivasan for the second `Test' at Calcutta. A competent wicketkeepr and useful tail end batsman, Parthasarathi went in at No 10 and scored 11 not out. In the second innings he was sent in as nightwatchman at No 3 and was out for four. But he had a good match behind the stumps, catching three batsmen - skipper Lindsay Hassett, JA Workman and Jack Pettiford and stumping Keith Miller in the Australian first innings. That however remained his only international experience for he he was replaced for the final `Test' at Madras. (Partab Ramchand)
