Born at Southampton on September 19,1885. He played in 51 matches for Hampshire from 1905 to 1909 but his county cricket then came to an end when he was posted abroad. As a right-arm fast bowler he took 27 wickets at 30.02 with a best of 6 for 64, and as a lower-order right-hand bat totalled 889 runs at 11.69 with a top score of 71. A Major with the Royal Fusiliers in the First World War, he was awarded the MC and bar. He died of wounds near St Omer, France, on June 28, 1918, aged 32.
