Profile

Dusty Hare was a right-hand middle-order batsman who played a handful of games for Nottinghamshire between 1971 and 1977 but his career average of 12.21 shows he struggled to make any impression. However, Hare was one of England's best rugby players, making 25 appearances for his country between 1974 and 1984, and for Leicester he was almost an institution, playing 3954 times for the Tigers between 1976 and 1988. When he retired he held the world record for points scored in a first class rugby career (7337). Hare was also a junior county tennis player, and until 2001 was a farmer. However, he sold the business to concentrate on his continuing role at Leicester.
