Simon Upton emigrated to Canada in 1997 with his family. On arrival he played with Wanderers C.C. in the B.C.M.C.L. third division before moving to North Shore C.C. where he made his debut in the Premier divison in 2000. Since then Simon has emerged as one of the top young seam bowlers in B.C. A tall bowler with an easy action, Upton bowls mainly away swingers and from a distance could be mistaken for a young Glen McGrath.
Simon has played in the Canada Cup with B.C. U-19 twice and the Americas Cup and the West Indies U-19 competition with the Canadian U-19 side. In addition, he marked his senior provincial debut, in 2001, by taking 3 for 30 against Hong Kong as they prepared for the ICC tournament. A student, he lives in Vancouver.
