David Moore, the Bermuda coach, has dropped vice-captain Stephen Outerbridge and fast bowler Kevin Tucker from the squad for the limited-over matches against the UAE. The decision was taken after the pair arrived late for a recovery session at Horseshoe Bay following a nine-wicket defeat - Bermuda's third in the four-team tournament - inside three days in an ICC Intercontinental Shield match against the UAE.
"Stephen and Kevin have been dropped because they arrived late for the recovery session," Moore told CMC. "It's disappointing, but what can I do? They could not fulfil team standards. They may be available for the games on Monday."
Moore's decision to drop Outerbridge and Tucker was consistent with his tough stance towards discipline since he took over coaching duties from Gus Logie. Outerbridge and Tucker joined Jordan DeSilva, who has since returned, and Malachi Jones on a list of players dropped for not maintaining team standards.
Bermuda play UAE in two one-dayers over the weekend and then in two Twenty20 games on Monday. "It's a big series for us because it's giving us an idea of how other guys in the squad are actually going to handle international cricket," Moore said. "And the issue is that we need them to handle international cricket well, and the only way we can gauge that is by watching the way they handle international pressure."
Squad: David Hemp (capt), Chris Foggo, Fiqre Crockwell, Shannon Rayner, Terryn Fray, Rodney Trott, Joshua Gilbert, Tamauri Tucker, Stefan Kelly, Jordan DeSilva, Jim West, Christian Burgess, Janeiro Tucker, Justin Pitcher, Oliver Pitcher, Stephan Dill.
