Bangladesh won the first of two ODIs against Scotland, cruising to a six-wicket win with more than 20 overs to spare after bowling the Scots out for 153 at Chittagong.
Scotland lost two early wickets, and although Gavin Hamilton and Fraser Watts staged a recovery of sorts, lifting the score to 50 for 2, the middle order offered little resistance as five wickets fell for 24 runs, leaving Scotland teetering on 74 for 7. Colin Smith halted the slide with a solid 30, and late hitting from Ross Lyons and Glenn Rogers enabled them to reach a score that gave their bowlers some hope.
Bangladesh, however, never looked in trouble, with Shahriar Nafees and Aftab Ahmed adding 92 for the second wicket after the early loss of Mehrab Hossain. Ahmed made 66 off only 50 balls, and Lyons came in for some heavy punishment, taking 2 for 52 off 6.1 overs as Bangladesh cantered home to their seventh straight ODI win.
After this loss and a defeat to a BCB Academy XI, Scotland have one last chance to salvage something from their brief tour when the two sides meet again at Mirpur on Sunday. That game will be particularly significant for Scotland captain Craig Wright who is in line to make his 154th appearance for the side, breaking the national record.
