As widely expected, the Bangladesh government has dissolved the Bangladesh Cricket Board and appointed a 12-man interim committee under Major-General Sina Ibn Jamali, the chief of general staff of the army.

"The board has been dissolved as most members have resigned voluntarily," the sports ministry said in a statement. "It is hoped that the interim committee will soon take up charges and will take steps to organise a permanent committee."

The bulk of the board resigned last week after the government made highly critical comments about the way it operated, accusing the members of having links to major links to political parties.

Salman Ispahani, a leading sports organiser, is the only member of the dissolved 31-member board to be retained on the interim committee.

New committee : Major General Sina Ibn Jamali, Syed Fahim Munaim, Ahmed Sazzadul Alam Bobby, Shafiqur Rahman Munna, Ishtiaque Ahmed, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, Md Abdul Momen, Monwara Anis Khan, Salman Ispahani, Firoze Ahmed, Lt Col (retd) Abdul Latif Khan and Md Selim Bhuiya.
