 Profile

A studious left-arm seamer, Manjural Islam seldom bowls a bouncer, but instead concentrates on maintaining an off-stump line. He performed creditably in English conditions during the 1999 World Cup, and took 6 for 81 on Test debut against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in April 2001. He has struggled for penetration since, however, but with Bangladesh building their hopes for the future around a young battery of fast bowlers, Manjural's steadying influence will continue to play an important part in their development.
